The history of Prussian locomotive Class T161:
In 1905, the prototype for T16 designed by Robert Garbe was completed. Between 1905 and 1913, Schwartzkopff built 343 locomotives for K.P.E.V and was progressively modified until 1913 when was again redesigned and named T161.The supplies were increased to 3 tons coal and 8 m3 water (so far 2 tons coal and 7 m3 water), overall weight was increased by almost 10 tons,
the boiler received a "vierreihigen" superheater with 45,3 m2 (so far 31.7 m2 ) and other design changes.T161 locomotives have been built also by Grafenstaden, Hanomag, Henschel, Linke-Hofmann and remained in production until 1924, with a total of 1236 engines.
When the DRG was formed, they took over 1116 engines which became Class 945-17 and were numbered 94502 to 941377 and 941501 to 941740.
